Big In Tent Youth Theatre
Presents
Tomorrow! - a revue
?There are three masks: The one we think we are, The one we really are, And the one we have in common.? Jacques Le Coq.
Welcome to this evening?s performance at Hampton Hill Playhouse, we hope you enjoy what we have in store for you tonight. Our focus this term has been on creating our own material and students have been encouraged to see themselves not merely as performers, but also as writers, choreographers and composers. It involves a great risk as it makes actors have to take responsibility for what they are performing, but it produces wonderful drama as it is rooted in something meaningful and real.
A lot of what you will see this evening falls into the category of Physical Theatre or Corporal Mime and builds on the style of performers such as Jacques Copeau, Etienne Decroux, Jean Louis Barrault, Marguerite Dupont and Jacques Le Coq to name but a few. In creating the work we got students to either produce solo or ensemble/group work In their solo work students used their own experiences and interpretations on them as their starting point, but developed work to express the emotion rather than what actually happened. In their ensemble work they improvised as a group and made choices based on how they relate to each other in the situation rather than through reflection. The process is as important as the result and some really powerful work has been produced and our hope is that you will benefit from this.
Thank you all for your support throughout this term.
